Reading Week 7 - Myths and Mythology.

For reading this week we have been learning abut myths and mythology. For this we had to make a timeline about Kupe travels to Aotearoa. Our goal for this was to visualize using all of the senses, and talk about how this enriches meaning and identify at least one important idea and justify why it is important. Here is the task.

Maths Create Task - Week 7 Term 1

The goal for this week was to Use a broad range of strategies to solve addition and subtraction problems with whole numbers & decimals (place value) for this we had to complete a set of instruction on how to do place value for addition in the thousands and addition with decimals.

Swimming at QUEll

 
For the past 2 weeks we have been going to QUEll to take swimming lessons. We have been going in groups of 4 and we take the year 1/2's as buddies to help them with swimming. I like swimming because it gives us a chance to learn how to keep yourself safe in the ocean water and learn how to keep each other safe and help each other. my group leaves at 9:55am in the morning
everyday and finish at 11:00am.

Communication.

Over this past week we have been learning about collaboration, creativity and communication.
We have been learning about communication today and for this task we to copy and object without looking at it, the other teammates had communicate to us what the object looked like. I think that when your working with a group communication is key because without it the outcome of the project will not be what was you are hoping for.

In this Term we are learning about the 6 c's a certain one that we are learning about is creativity. As you may know our school is having a community fair on Sunday the 8th starting from 10:30am to 3:00pm. Some of the things that we have learned is...

What kind of thinker am I?
What creative thinking skills do I have and which can I work on? - I think that I am creative when it comes to things like giving ideas to the group and I can work on making my ideas more out of the box and having perseverance and vision when making a project.
What aspects of creative thinking do I find the hardest? - I find think outside of the box hard because I think I am more of a logical thinker than creative.
What Creative thinking did I bring to my group for this part of PBL?
What are my creative strengths when I work in a team? - I think that my creative aspects when working in an group is that I am able to think of ideas even when it is a hard topic.

For this lesson we had to come up with 100 ways to use a paperclip using our creative thinking, we did this collaboratively

Collaboration,

As you may know our school is having a School community fair on the 8th of march on Sunday. For this us year 7/8's have been making games for the juniors to play at the fair. We have been working on our collaboration skills. For this some we have been referring to six bullet points about how are collaboration looks and and sounds like in our Group...

I think that everyone in our Group has done really well and has put alot of work into the game we are making. I think that I have done a good job of giving ideas to the group that will have the best outcome for us and for the game. An area of collaboration that I should work on is building off everyone's ideas and to have everyone's ideas somewhere in the project.
