Hey there guys this week for reading we have been reading an article;e about the Caritas Organization. For this we were learning about Papua New Guinea, Here are some facts about Papua New Guinea, Papua New Guinea is made up of over 600 islands, They hold many species in their forest that we have not come across yet, It's population is about 8 million people. For our task we had to write what are knowledge was about the Papua New Guinea Caritas was and then what we learnt from reading the text after was. Our goal for this task was to Use knowledge from text to combine with new ideas (own and others) to come up with new thinking. For this I made a potable water filter drink bottle to take around with you. You can dip this empty can into a lake and come out with clean potable water, ( this does not actually work. ) Here is my Task.

Maths Task Week 3 - Term 1

Image result for AreaMaths Task,

For our maths task this Week our goal was to Use a variety of
strategies to calculate the area of rectangles, parallelograms and triangles. These strategies are called formulas. The formula for rectangles is Area = length x width ( A = lw ) The parallelogram formula is Area = base x height ( A = bh ) and the triangle formula is 1/2 bh ( 1/2 base x height. ) For this we all created six different questions, 2 parallelograms 2 triangles and 2 rectangles. Here is the task.

This goal is one of the first ones for the year. Our goal for writing this week is Create content that is concise and relevant to the curriculum task. For this task we had to make instructions for a game for the fair this coming march ( I'll have more on that. ) For these instructions I did bean bag toss. here is my task.

Bean Bag Toss Instructions,

Step 1: Setup 5 bins one behind the other the first bin being 5 points then 10 then 20 the 45 and then 100.

Step 2: Mark out the line that they need to stand at to throw the bags depending on age, a meter for ages 3 to 6 and ages 7 to 12 2 meters.

Step 3: When playing the kids need to be able to throw
The bean bags into the bins and the challenge will be to add up the points

That they got from getting the bean bag in the bins.

Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

The Treaty of Waitangi,

We started of this Term by learning about the Treaty of Waitangi. The Treaty of Waitangi was signed on February the 6th 1840, about 5 years later the New Zealand wars began. while the wars were taking place the British Government took plots of land from the Maori because of rebelling against the Government. In 1872 the wars ended but the Maoris were still suffering because of the land that was taken from them. Nowadays there is a Group called the Tribunal group and they support the Maoris by letting them claim their land that was taken away for them in the 1800's. I think that if the Treaty was modified then we would be able to be at peace again and live together normally.

What are your ideas about the Treaty?
